Innsbruck — the capital of Tyrol — is the most beautiful alpine city in the world, its Baroque old town enclosed by the great walls of the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel. The Nordkette cable car rises 2,334 metres above the city in twenty-five minutes. Innsbruck hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976; Zaha Hadid designed the Hungerburgbahn funicular stations. The Hofburg Palace and the Golden Roof are the Habsburg signatures.
